ROWING IS COMING HOME

Organized annually by World Rowing, international Rowing governing body , World Rowing Awards, celebrating the pinnacle of achievement within the sport, are returning in live format, set to take place in Sevilla, Spain, on November 9th 2024.
Each year, the World Rowing Awards recognize outstanding performances across six categories, highlighting the dedication, skill, and determination of athletes, coaches, and teams from around the globe. As anticipation builds for the Paris Olympics 2024, the judging panel, consisting of international experts and sport’s legends, will be closely monitoring achievements and performances to identify the next generation of rowing champions.

"Rowing is Coming Home" encapsulates the return of Rowing to a place where its spirit has thrived for decades. Guadalquivir River, the river at the center of some of world’s greatest discoveries, expeditions, and empires will be the World Rowing landmark in 2024, allowing Sevilla to showcase all of its beauty and history.
This event will join some of the top sporting events worldwide such as: Davis Cup Finals, FIFA World Cup Bid, Moto GP, Solheim Cup, amongst many others that have been hosted by the Region of Andalucía in recent years, a prime destination in the world of sports.
On November 9th, Sevilla will play host to the prestigious Awards Gala for the first time, coinciding with the 58th edition of the Regatta Sevilla FC vs Real Betis Balompié. This historic event not only showcases the fierce rivalry between two football clubs but also two rowing clubs celebrating their annual tradition of coming together for a regatta on the Guadalquivir River, only matched by the renowned Oxford vs Cambridge race
The convergence of the morning Regatta Sevilla vs Betis and the evening World Rowing Awards Gala offers a unique opportunity for sports enthusiasts, hospitality seekers, and rowing aficionados to immerse themselves in a weekend of unparalleled competition and celebration.

Juanjo Márquez, CEO of Athlete+ and Director of the organizing committee for the World Rowing Awards 2024, expressed his enthusiasm, stating, " We are more than excited to bring international Rowing back to Seville and Andalucia. We are proud to host the awards in Seville for the next three years, showcasing the sport's full potential to the world. This event serves as a platform for networking and collaboration within the global rowing community. We are working to create new independent awards that will be announced in the near future, featuring Universities, Destinations, or Audiovisual Creations. There is no doubt that projects such as The Boys in the Boat deserve recognition on an international scale within the rowing community. We are planning to invite their producers to our celebrations in Sevilla.
Márquez concluded, “We extend invitations not only to major federations, clubs, and event organizers: Henley Royal or the Head of the Charles Regattas, but also to prestigious rowing universities such as Oxford, Cambridge, Harvard, Georgetown, and Yale and all rowing enthusiasts from around the world.”
The World Rowing Awards gala dinner, promises an evening of glamour, accolades, and unity, set in Sevilla's iconic Pabellón de la Navegación. It's an invitation to dive into Andalucía's enchanting culture, where every corner tells a story of passion and pride. Join us in celebrating rowing's grand return to its historic home.
